Visual Arts

Holy Cross offers Visual Arts at the junior and senior levels. Art 8-10 is designed to develop students’ creativity, as well as appreciation for their own and others’ artistic abilities. Art 11-12 introduces the student the student to the basic foundation of art, and expands and enriches their education in art. Making art involves the use of a variety of materials, tools, equipment and processes.

These processes include the expression areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media. Ideas and experiences are transformed into visual images, through hands on activities. Junior level projects and activities include watercolour painting, sky designs, papermache, mosaics, scratch art and charcoal. Senior level projects and activities are divided into fine arts and textiles including watercolours, pastels, charcoal, clay, acrylic painting, block prints, pen and ink, Batiks, and canvas painting. Be sure to check out the terrific 25th Anniversary mosaic design outside the front enterance of the school. (designed and created by students of the Holy Cross Art department).
